South Koreans planning to make the display larger

Samsung is reportedly considering a larger display for the Galaxy S10+ in an attempt to match the specifications of the alleged iPhone X Plus coming in September.

While this would make the Galaxy S10+ screen bigger than the one available on the Galaxy Note 9, which is traditionally the largest flagship in Samsung’s lineup, the South Korean firm is reportedly considering several options in order to position its device as a direct competitor to the iPhone X Plus.

Apple is projected to unveil three different iPhone models this year, including a 5.8-inch OLED successor to the iPhone X, a 6.1-inch LCD version, and a 6.5/6.46-inch OLED-based iPhone X Plus.

A report from The Korea Herald reveals that Samsung is now exploring a 6.44-inch display for the Galaxy S10+, an increase from the 6.38-inch screen projected to be used on the Galaxy Note 9 launching in August.

But according to sources familiar with the matter and cited by the linked source, a final decision hasn’t been made just yet, and different options are still under consideration.

Triple-camera configuration

Additionally, the report reiterates information that surfaced earlier this week and suggesting that Samsung could launch three different S10 versions next year. By the looks of things, the South Korean firm wants to release a mid-range smartphone as well, and it could come with a flag screen measuring 5 inches. The other two versions could boast an Infinity Display with curved edges.

The Galaxy S10+ will also come with upgraded camera performance. Samsung could use a triple-camera setup for this particular model, while also giving up on the iris recognition, in the favor of 3D facial recognition. Furthermore, the company seems very keen on offering a fingerprint sensor embedded into the glass, though for the time being, the tech hasn’t been finalized.

Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to launch in January next year, while the next product launch on the company’s schedule is the Note 9 due in August.
