Podcasts now being added to Samsung Free

Samsung Free, the application which until recently was known as Samsung Daily, is continuously evolving, and the latest version comes with a little surprise.

It includes podcasts, and according to a report, the new feature is live following the latest update in the Galaxy Store and is only offered to Android 11 users.

Just as expected, the podcasts are available at one-swipe distance, so you can simply swipe left from the home screen to launch the app. There’s a new podcast section in there, and simply typing one entry allows you to listen to it.

Android 11 and at least One UI 3 required

Samsung hasn’t officially announced support for podcasts in its app, but the company did confirm in the official announcement (when it decided to give up on the Samsung Daily app) that media content would be part of the experience.

“Samsung Daily is no longer available on Galaxy S20 and Note phones that have the One UI 3 update. But you won't be sad for long because it's been replaced with an awesome new feature called Samsung Free. Plus, Galaxy S21 devices have received not only Samsung Free but the new Google Discover feature as well! Both features give you access to live TV shows, news and articles from numerous sources, and interactive games. The best part is they are entirely free of charge!” the company said.

Needless to say, Samsung Free can also be disabled completely, and while Samsung has never provided any usage stats, it would definitely be interesting to find out how many people are actually using it.

Right now, the good news is that Samsung Free is evolving, and the addition of podcasts makes it an even more advanced one-stop app that does everything from the comfort of your home screen.
