Company says it needs to further improve the device

Samsung has officially announced that it’s delaying the launch of the Galaxy Fold as the company needs more time to refine the device and address the issues that have recently been discovered by early testers.

“We are encouraged by the excitement around the Galaxy Fold,” Samsung says in the beginning of its announcement.

The company then admits that people who tried out the device discovered areas that need to be improved, so it needs to hold back the Galaxy Fold a little longer to improve this experience. No specifics are available on the new release target, but Samsung says additional info would be shared in the coming weeks.

“To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Fold,” Samsung continues.

Further screen improvements

Unsurprisingly, one of the things that Samsung says it’d focus on is the display. Early reviewers discovered that the Galaxy Fold could experience screen issues, especially in the area where the two displays come together.

“Initial findings from the inspection of reported issues on the display showed that they could be associated with impact on the top and bottom exposed areas of the hinge. There was also an instance where substances found inside the device affected the display performance,” Samsung says.

Additionally, the South Koreans claim they would make it clearer that the screen protector is not supposed to be removed from the Galaxy Fold, as some testers tried to peel it off, only for the display to then be damaged.

“We will take measures to strengthen the display protection. We will also enhance the guidance on care and use of the display including the protective layer so that our customers get the most out of their Galaxy Fold,” the announcement continues.

Samsung Galaxy Fold launch events have also been delayed across the world, including in China and in other markets.
