It’d take longer for some customers to buy the device

Samsung has reportedly canceled the Galaxy Fold launch event in China, as well as two other local activities related to the phone.

The company hasn’t yet released an official announcement on this, but according to reports that are yet to receive a confirmation from the South Koreans, Samsung blames what’s being described as a last-minute problem with the venue.

Needless to say, it’s hard to believe this is the case, especially following the recent criticism that the Galaxy Fold breaks down in just a few hours after setting it up.

Early reviewers have found out that the Galaxy Fold comes with a screen protector which when removed breaks down the display. However, Samsung explained the screen protector isn’t supposed to be removed, and the company has more recently tried to make it clear by adding extra warnings when unboxing the device.

New warning

However, it shouldn’t take too long before Samsung launches the Galaxy Fold in international markets. The company said in its statement regarding the aforementioned issues that only a limited number of devices experienced issues.

“A limited number of early Galaxy Fold samples were provided to media for review. We have received a few reports regarding the main display on the samples provided. We will thoroughly inspect these units in person to determine the cause of the matter,” Samsung explained.

In the meantime, it looks like the company has already resolved the protective layer issue with an additional warning on top of the screen.

“Attention: the main screen includes a special protective layer. Peeling off the protective layer or using any adhesives on the main screens, such as screen protectors or stickers, may cause damage,” the new warning reads.
