In case you were thinking that Samsung finally managed to resolve its update problem and deliver improvements to its devices in a timely manner, here’s something that could make you change your mind.

Revisions that Samsung has made to its update schedule for a number of Galaxy models shows that the Oreo release has been pushed back for several devices, with the rollout now projected to begin in late 2018.

While it’s pretty awkward to get the Android Oreo update in October or November when other smartphones are already receiving the new Android P, Samsung apparently believes there’s absolutely no reason to hurry up and rush this release.

Models pushed back to December

According to this schedule posted in the Samsung Members app, the Galaxy C7 Pro, C9 Pro, A9 Pro (2016), J7 (2018), J7 Neo, On5 (2016), On7 (2016), and On7 (2018) are all projected to receive the update in December. Note that some of the devices that have been pushed back in the schedule were released this year, which is quite unexpected for a new-generation device.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Tab A (2017) is now due to get Oreo in October, while the J7 Max rollout should start in November.

As many Samsung owners found out the hard way, the rollout does not complete in just one day and it typically expands to several months. So even if Android Oreo should arrive for some models in December, it may take longer until you get it on your device.

Sure, Samsung enthusiasts believe that there’s no reason to eagerly wait for Oreo since Samsung phones already come with a plethora of improvements over stock Android. But, in the end, shipping this update after a new version of Android is released to smartphones is something that you wouldn’t normally expect from the number one Android device manufacturer.
