The full focus will be on foldables, according to report

Samsung is getting ready for a new round of device launches, as the company is expected to take the wraps off the new-generation foldables as soon as August.

Of course, this is one of the biggest product debuts of the year, especially as Samsung’s foldables are among the most premium devices currently on the market.

The company, however, is apparently trying to figure out just how premium is enough premium, so it will focus a lot more on promoting these foldables this year. A report from The Korea Times reveals that Samsung will push hard to increase its premium device market share, and focus more on the new foldables going live this year is part of the strategy.

In some ways, Samsung apparently believes that its Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 will help compete more effectively against the iPhone, even though most people out there believe the Galaxy S series is currently the top alternative to the Apple smartphone.

Samsung, on the other hand, seems to be betting big on the premium factor, and given the foldables lineup excels on this front, the Galaxy S series could end up becoming a second-class citizen for the South Korean company.

In other words, Samsung could lower its sales expectations for the Galaxy S and the Galaxy A series, as all efforts would be aimed at foldables.

Certainly, this could disappoint some customers who aren’t necessarily interested in foldables, but the move could help Samsung secure more market share ahead of the debut of the anticipated foldable iPhone.

Apple is also believed to be working on a foldable device, but on the other hand, its debut is allegedly unlikely to happen before 2024 at the earliest, as the company is waiting for the market to be mature for this new form factor.
