The never-ending Galaxy Fold saga continues

Samsung is working around the clock to finalize the Galaxy Fold and bring it to the market, but according to a new report, the company could even adjust the list of countries getting it on day one due to undisclosed reasons.

In other words, not all the countries that were supposed to receive the Galaxy Fold would witness the launch of Samsung’s foldable smartphone just yet, as the company will instead focus on a handful of large markets.

Specifically, Samsung could release the Galaxy Fold in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and India, while markets like Italy and the Netherlands might have to wait a little bit more for this innovative model to go live.

The information is based on firmware testing, as Samsung has reportedly pushed back software validation for a series of regions, prioritizing others.

Of course, this could very well be inaccurate, as Samsung could always speed up firmware testing and bring all versions back in sync.

The Galaxy Fold saga

Bringing the Galaxy Fold to the market has so far been quite a challenge for Samsung. The device was originally projected to hit the shelves in April in the United States, but was pushed back because of issues affecting the display and discovered by early reviewers.

Earlier this month, Samsung’s CEO DJ Koh admitted that what happened with the Galaxy Fold was embarrassing for the company, but promised to do better in the future with further investments in new technologies.

“At the moment, more than 2,000 devices are being tested right now in all aspects,” he said at that point, promising the Galaxy Fold would be here rather sooner than later. “We defined all the issues. Some issues we didn’t even think about, but, thanks to our reviewers, mass volume testing is ongoing.”

Samsung is yet to publicly announce the new release date of the Galaxy Fold.
