The tablet has recently been mentioned in a consumer survey

Samsung is currently not only the world’s number one phone maker but also one of the companies investing big in Android tablets.

And as it turns out, the South Koreans have no intention to change this, and what’s more, they even plan to come up with something that nobody else did before.

It’s a 14.6-inch Android tablet that could at one point see the daylight with high-end specs, according to a recent consumer survey. The 14.6-inch OLED display would feature a 120Hz refresh rate, while the tablet would also include no less than 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 12,000 mAh battery with 45W charging. Needless to say, S Pen support would also be offered.

The pros and cons

While at the first glance it sounds pretty awkward for Samsung to come up with such a huge Android tablet, there’s a chance this device starts a niche that would grow pretty fast.

It could definitely be pretty weird to carry such a large tablet with you, but on the other hand, it’s easy to see when such a device would come in handy, especially in the enterprise.

Just think that Microsoft’s Surface Book also allows the screen to be used independently as a tablet, so in theory, Samsung could go pretty much the same route, especially if the company eventually decides to also release a keyboard that would allow the tablet to turn into a laptop.

The bigger problem is likely to be the existing app ecosystem which isn’t prepared for such a large screen and which could obviously lead to rendering issues unless more updates are released.

Time will tell if Samsung decides to come up with such a device, but for now, you’d better not hold your breath for this tablet because everything is believed to be in the planning phases.
