Pre-order page goes live early due to an “innocent” mistake

Samsung will take the wraps off the Galaxy Note 9 next week, and the company may have already started its marketing offensive to make sure the device sells well.

While the unveiling of the new Note happens earlier than usual due to what many have called a panic mode caused by slow Galaxy S9 sales, Samsung looks set to make the Note 9 a success by any means. Including leaking its own products ahead of their official unveiling.

A Galaxy Note 9 pre-order page has gone live earlier than projected in New Zealand, revealing the device and the new S Pen that comes along with it. While this is unlikely a mistake, Samsung has already removed the page in an attempt to make everyone believe it wasn’t a marketing stunt. A screenshot of the page, however, has been published by Evan Blass.

Special-edition Note?

Leaving aside the purpose of this leak, the photo does show the Note 9 in all its glory, confirming a redesigned rear camera and a new S Pen.

By the looks of things, the S Pen will indeed be yellow when ordered with a blue Note 9, and it’s believed that this would be the only model coming with a special-color stylus. The other configurations will feature S Pens whose colors will match the one of the phones.

There’s a chance that Samsung uses this color combination for the top-of-the-range Note 9, which may feature as much as 512GB storage. This could thus be a way to differentiate the most expensive Note from the rest of the lineup.

The Note 9 will go on sale later this month, possibly on August 26, while pre-orders will go live shortly after the official unveiling on August 9. Pricing and full technical specifications will be announced during the New York press conference.
