Due to the first game of the series not being on par

Although Electronic Arts has yet to confirm that its studios are working on Mass Effect remasters, rumors are running around that the publisher has decided to delay the bundle until next year. The so-called Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is said to bundle all three Mass Effect games in a remastered version.

According to previous reports, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition should have been revealed and released in October, but VentureBeat reports that developer BioWare and publisher EA are not content with some of the bundle's contents.

Besides the inherent difficulties that arise from a worldwide pandemic, the development got stuck at the first title in the series. Being the oldest of the three, the original Mass Effect game requires extra attention from the developers, and at the moment, “it does not live up to the quality of the rest of the package,” VentureBeat claims.

The problem is not just that the visuals aren't on par with the other two titles, but gameplay-wise Mass Effect has many issues. Since both aspects would make a poor first impression for newcomers to the series, EA has decided to push back the release date until next year.

The new tentative launch date for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Remaster Collection is now early 2021, but we won't know exactly when until EA officially unveils the bundle. One other thing worth mentioning is that the bundle will not include the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer since this isn't the focus of the project (to turn it into a live-service game).

However, people with knowledge about EA's plans claim the bundle will include all the downloadable content for all three Mass Effect games, which means those who buy it will be able to get the full experience. Here is hoping that BioWare will be able to surpass all obstacles and deliver a true Mass Effect remaster.
