As time goes by, Sony and Microsoft realize the importance of having their console exclusive games in the hands of as many people as possible. Microsoft has already decided to make all its high-profile titles available on both Xbox and PC at the same time, but Sony has been reluctant on the matter.

Games like Uncharted, Spider-Man, The Last of Us and Horizon: Zero Dawn remain PS4 exclusives to this day. However, rumor has it that at least one of these games will come to PC at some point this year. Kotaku reports three people familiar with Sony's plans, all speaking anonymously, confirm that Guerilla Games plans to bring their critically-acclaimed title to PC.

It's unclear whether or not this has something to do with the fact that Guerilla Games' CEO, Hermen Hulst has been appointed by PlayStation as the new head of Worldwide Studios. We do know that Guerilla Games is owned and operated by Sony, so the decision to bring Horizon: Zero Dawn was taken in-house.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is not the only major PS4 exclusive expected to be launched on the PC this year. Hideo Kojima confirmed a few days before Death Stranding was released that the game will also be launched on the PC in mid-2020. One thing that these two titles have in common is that they both run on Guerilla's Decima Engine.

Guerilla Games' Horizon: Zero Dawn made its debut on PS4 back in 2017 to raving reviews. Due to the success of the game, an expansion called The Frozen Wilds was released in late 2017. Now, three years later, Sony seems to have decided to bring it to PC, a move that marks a change in approach.

Up until now, Sony's strategy was to release great games to drive console sales. We doubt that will change with the release of PlayStation 5 later this year, but there's a chance that the Japanese company will start replacing the usual PlayStation exclusives with temporary ones.
