The sequel to the critically-acclaimed Unexplored finally has just been confirmed by developer Ludomotion. Dubbed Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy, the game will be launched first on consoles and then on PC. Although no release date has been revealed yet, we know Unexplored 2 will be coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X on the same day.

Also, publisher Big Sugar announced that an Unexplored 2 beta for PC players will begin on the Epic Games Store in the coming weeks. Steam fans will probably have to yet one more year to get Unexplored 2 on their favorite digital platform.

Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy is a roguelite action-RPG with a distinct graphical style. According to developers, the game will support 4K resolution gaming at 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X.

A new console generation is always an exciting time and I'm delighted Unexplored 2 is going to be among the first games to launch on Xbox Series X. The team at Ludomotion are masters of their craft and, as someone who has put many enjoyable hours into the original Unexplored, I'm thrilled to see their ambitious plans for the sequel coming to fruition,” said Nick Alfieri, Director of Unexplored 2 publisher Big Sugar.

As far as the roguelite features go, Ludomotion revealed the so-called “legacy system,” which will give successive adventurers better hopes of completing their quest. When your hero dies in Unexplored 2, they will remain dead, which is referred to in the gaming world as permadeath.

However, you can play in the same world with a new adventurer, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead. Of course, you'll also have to option to start a new adventure in a completely uncharted world.

More importantly, there are no premeditated scripts in Unexplored 2, which means that every adventurer's ultimate goal may be the same, but every hero will have their own unique story of the events and encounters that happened along the way.

We've already mentioned that Unexplored 2 doesn't have a launch date, but it does have a release window and you can mark it on your calendars: Q1 2021.
