Apple planning iPhone trio for September launch

New renders published online today envision two of the three iPhone models launching this year, all based on the information that made the rounds in the last couple of months.

Posted by NieuweMobiel.nl, the high-quality renders imagine the design of the 2018 iPhone X and the more affordable model coming with a 6.1-inch LCD screen.

First of all, the essential info. Apple wants to launch three different iPhone configurations this year, as it follows: a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone X (a direct successor to the original 2017 generation), a 6.1-inch LCD device supposed to be more affordable than the others, and a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus.

While the 2018 5.8-inch iPhone X would only include small changes here and there as compared to its predecessor, the bigger iPhone X Plus will push things a little bit further. In addition to a larger screen, the device could get upgraded RAM and more storage options, with some sources even indicating that Apple was pondering a triple-camera configuration a la Huawei.

More affordable iPhone

The third model is the cheaper iPhone coming with an LCD panel and also highlighted in the renders. As you can see, the lower price is only possible after removing some key features, like the dual-camera system.

Instead, this model would come with a single-lens camera on the back, though when viewed from the front, very little is different from the iPhone X. The notch is still there, and so is the edge-to-edge display without a fingerprint sensor.

Rumor has it that this device could hit the shelves with a $700 price tag and be available without wireless charging or 3D Touch, though it remains to be seen how many features Apple wants to ditch in order to lower the price.

All models will be unveiled in September, with sales to begin shortly after or in early October.
