Red Dead Online is coming online today as Rockstar Games is trying to figure out just what it takes to keep such a world alive and working.

If Rockstar Games learned anything from the success of GTA V is that it needs a powerful online community to keep the game alive. The first Red Dead Redemption was so good that it managed to remain in the player's consciousness for many years, but it’s no longer enough.

Now that Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, there is no reason why the game can’t still generate money after launch. The developers hope that the upcoming Red Dead Online will be what the players are looking for.

Using Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation

Red Dead Online comes online, today, November 27th and full access will be granted to people starting November 30th. Even if it’s called Red Dead Online, this is basically the online component for Red Dead Redemption 2, and it used the same gameplay as a foundation.

“Built from the ground up for the latest hardware, Red Dead Online blends the classic multiplayer of the original Red Dead Redemption with the best of everything we have learned since then about creating deep multiplayer experiences. With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns, and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players,” says Rockstar Games.

Of course, players will be able to customize their characters, explore the world either alone or with your friends, form a Posse, battle gangs, hunt, and do pretty much everything else as a group.

Of course, since this is a Beta, players should expect to encounter problems, but in all likelihood, it’s going to be about connectivity. Even if you aren't able to play starting today, you should be able to play along with everyone else starting November 30th. Of course, players need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Gold to access the multiplayer part.
