Just now, Realtek has made available its 2.81 High Definition Audio driver compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit variants), which comes more than a month after the previous Realtek HD Audio 2.80 release.

However, bear in mind that, even though this update might also be compatible with other OSes, we don’t recommend installing it on other platforms. Still, as the Readme file suggests, the current update might also be compatible with Microsoft’s Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, and Server 2008 platforms.

If applied, this newly-outed package installs the 6.0.1.8036 audio version (compared to build 8004), supports all of Realtek’s HD Audio ALC Codecs, and includes a few driver customizations and bug fixes.

When it comes to applying this build, just confirm that your system configuration is supported, get the appropriate downloadable package for your bit architecture, and run the available setup with administrator rights.

Afterward, wait for all the required files to be extracted, click on the “Next” button, and allow the installer to apply the new update. Once finished, if not requested automatically, we recommend that you manually perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly.

That being said, download Realtek HD Audio Driver 2.81, take into account all aspects mentioned above, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
