14 DAY TRIAL // Razer unveiled several mobile phone cases, for iPhones and Razer Phone 2, that are using a new thermal cooling technology.
Cooling technologies are employed by companies to help keep the temperature down in phones. It’s no secret that one of the most significant issues with mobile devices is heat dissipation, which is not easy to achieve in such as a small space.
It’s also true that companies, like Razer, for example, are using various technologies to keep the temperature of their devices down. The Razer Phone 2 has a custom vapor chamber cooling system, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t benefit from another cooling system to help it even more.
iPhones are great candidates for Thermaphene
Thermaphene is the name of the cooling layer implemented in the latest Razer Arctech mobile cases. It’s a proprietary system that’s designed to drastically reduce the temperature in devices, especially during intensive loads.
Razer explained that “the Arctech cases feature a combination of thermally-conductive layers to effectively dissipate heat, allowing for better phone performance and improved battery life. They have been designed to allow unhindered network connectivity, ensuring smooth gameplay and video streaming as well as working seamlessly with Qi-certified wireless chargers.”
The cases cover a wide variety de devices, including 2019 iPhones (iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max), 2018 iPhones (iPhone Xr, Xs, Xs Max), and Razer Phone 2. If the case proves to be a success, we might see them on other phones as well.
Razer Arctech cases managed to keep the temperatures up to 6° Celsius lower, which was below the manufacturer’s maximum recommended levels. It might not seem like much, but six degrees is the difference between too hot to hold and lukewarm.
To make things even more interesting, the new line of cases consists of Arctech Slim and Arctech Pro. The Slim version remains as close as possible to the original form factor of the covered device, while the Pro iteration is a little bit bulkier, offering more protection.
Along with the Arctech mobile case, Razer unveiled the Blue Light Screen Protector, designed to protect the screen and prevent screen glare, eyestrain, and possible damage.
The price for Razer Arctech Slim is $29.99, followed by Razer Arctech Pro with $39.99. There’s also Razer Arctech Pro THS Edition, at $49.99, which has a scratch-resistant backplate, four shock-absorbent sidewalls, and can be dropped from 10ft/3m. Lastly, Blue Light Screen Protector is available at $39.99. All of these new products are available now from Razer.com and Amazon.
