It looks like the game is very well optimized

Bethesda is preparing to release Rage 2 for all platforms, including PC, and they also decide to reveal the system requirements.

Knowing the system requirements for a game can be useful information, especially if it’s a title that you’re looking forward to. You could go out and buy that extra RAM you need, or maybe it’s time to invest in a new CPU. It’s also possible that you see the requirements and you can rest easy that you don’t need to change anything.

In any case, revealing the PC system requirements is not something new, but it looks like studios and publishers now have to make some special announcements for console owners. Don’t worry, if you have an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4 you’ll be able to play it, but the number of FPS and resolution are starting to become relevant.

Not all that demanding

It turns out that Rage 2 is not a really demanding game, at least for PC. At a minimum, you’ll need an Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X, 8GB of RAM, and Nvidia GTX 780 3GB or AMD R9 280 3GB.

The recommended requirements are a little bit steeper, but not by much. Users will need an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, 8GB RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB or AMD Vega 56 8GB. There is no mention of the resolution, but my guess that it’s 1080p. You’ll need something much more powerful for 4K.

Rage 2 also comes with ultra-wide (21:9) and super ultra-wide support (32:9) on PCs, which is a nice touch, a FOV slider that goes up to 120 degrees, and a few other perks that apparently can be turned off on consoles as well.

And here comes the caveat for consoles. “On PlayStation 4 RAGE 2 runs at 1080p with a framerate cap of 30 FPS, and on Xbox One it runs at 900p with a framerate cap of 30 FPS. We focused on speed, so on Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro that cap is raised to 60 FPS, and the game runs at 1080p on both platforms. PC users can run at any resolution their system supports, complete with uncapped framerates.”

Rage 2 is scheduled to launch on May 14 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
