Quantum Break might not launch this fall, but the game is an important one for the future of the Xbox One, especially because it aims to deliver a mix of classic video game action and a digital live action show, something that no other title has managed to successfully create.

Developer Remedy and publisher Microsoft are saying on the Xbox Wire that the episodes will be delivered between the five chapters of the narrative of the game.

The main character of Quantum Break is Jack Joyce, played by Shawn Ashmore, and gamers will be able to control him during the actual video game.

But for the live action show the perspective shifts in order to be more focused on Paul Serene, the bad guy of the title, played by Aidan Gillen of Game of Thrones fame, and his second in command Martin Hatch, portrayed by Lance Reddick.

The fact that a limited number of episodes are being created means that gamers will have to make choices while the characters deliver exposition, which will alter the state of the gameplay sequences in the new Quantum Break chapters.

Remedy has not explained how many states it plans to deliver for its title and how many times gamers will have to get through the story to get all the possible endings.

Quantum Break will also have engaging gameplay

The initial plan was to offer the live action series separately from the game, but it seems that the developers and Microsoft have decided that closer interaction is a better way to make sure that gamers have access to all elements of the narrative.

During Gamescom, 2015 Remedy showed how the core gameplay of Quantum Break will work, giving gamers a chance to see how the main character will be able to manipulate time in order to navigate a collapsing shipyard.

The demo also introduced enemies that wear special suits, designed to keep them stable even inside stutter time areas, and demonstrated how they can be defeated.

The development team at Remedy and Microsoft believe that the mix of solid gameplay and complex characters with solid voice acting will create a more engaging narrative.

Quantum Break will be launched only on the Xbox One and can be played on April 5 of next year.
