Beta program of the app officially kicks off on iOS

The wait is finally over, as the ProtonVPN team has recently announced the very first beta version of the app for iOS devices.

However, you can’t yet download ProtonVPN from the App Store, as the parent company first wants to improve it with help from the community, so it’s running a beta program for Plus and Visionary users.

The first ProtonVPN beta is available as part of the TestFlight app, but the dev team says it’s limiting it to these two categories of members because of capacity reasons.

“This way we can focus on the feedback from the most active ProtonVPN user groups,” it explains in a blog post today.

How to register for ProtonVPN beta

Registering for the program isn’t at all difficult. All you have to do is to log in with your account and go to the dashboard to provide your Apple ID information to associate it with your Proton account. The company reminds that seats are limited, so the sooner you do this, the bigger the chances to be accepted in the program.

In the TestFlight app, you should receive an invitation to try out ProtonVPN, and when it becomes available, you’ll get a message to begin testing.

ProtonVPN developers explain that feedback is critical for the future of the app, and this is one of the reasons a specific ETA as to when the VPN client could land in the App Store isn’t available just yet.

“We don’t have a specific timeframe for the public iOS release, but we will release it as soon as we feel it is ready. We take user feedback seriously, and all comments and suggestions from our Beta users will be used to further improve the app,” they say.

If you’re not yet a ProtonVPN Plus or Visionary member, you first have to upgrade your account before entering the beta. This is possible from the account page.
