Project Warlock II is getting delayed, developer Buckshot Software announced this week. Although the game is scheduled to be released in 2022, it was supposed to arrive on PC via Steam Early Access this year.

Before the launch of the early build, a Kickstarter campaign was supposed to go live next month, but that's been delayed. According to developers, Project Warlock II's Kickstarter campaign is now set to launch in late August, while the Steam Early Access version will arrive this fall.

Hey everyone! We need a little more time to get everything for the Kickstarter together and to polish the game for Early Access. We’re sorry to keep fans waiting, but we want to make it truly special. We're confident the wait will be well worth it. In the meantime,” said Kuba Cisło of Buckshot Software.

For those who've never heard about the sequel to Project Warlock, this is a retro shooter in the same veins as Quake, Hexen, and Blood. It promises non-stop action, blood-spattered pixels flying everywhere, epic rock and synth soundtrack, fully new, atmospheric sound design, and many improvements upon every aspect of the original game.

Story-wise, Project Warlock II picks up right after the events in the first game and is set in three explosive episodes. The upcoming title features three playable Warlock characters: Palmer, Urd, and Kirsten, all disciples of Warlock from the original title.

Each of the disciples is a master of their own discipline and has his or her reasons to find Warlock and confront their old master. Each chapter features distinct settings, a menagerie of deadly monsters, and bosses hulking in the darkness.

Although it's not yet live, those who wish to follow the project page for updates on the launch can already do that on Kickstarter's official channel.
