Today, Panasonic has made available a new firmware package developed for several of its LUMIX G compact camera models, namely version 1.2 targeted at the LUMIX DMC-GX80, DMC-GX85, DMC-G80, DMC-G81, and DMC-G85 devices.

Regarding changes, the current update reduces operation noise during standby shooting or motion picture recording, fixes an issue where the camera fails to connect to the Picmate server, and adds support for Dual I.S.2 function with the Panasonic H-RS100400 Firmware 1.1.

If you want to enjoy these enhancements, save and extract the downloadable archive, initialize a compatible memory card using your camera, and transfer the .bin file from the newly-created folder onto its root directory.

Afterward, make sure your LUMIX unit’s battery level is full, power it off, and insert the SD card into the appropriate slot. Now, just turn on your camera, press the “Play” button, and wait for your device to check the new firmware while it displays a “Please Wait ...” message.

Once recognized, Panasonic’s camera will automatically request your permission to initiate the upgrade (select “Yes” at the “Start Version Up?” message), and apply the new firmware afterward.

Upon completion, the device will reboot automatically, at which point you should check the current firmware version, then power it off, and remove its memory card (don’t forget to erase the update file).
