Just one day after launching the Opera 58 web browser for computers, Opera Software released today a new version of its Opera Touch mobile browser for iOS and Android users with various improvements.

The biggest piece of today's announcement is that the Opera Touch web browser has finally arrived for the iPad, allowing iOS users who own any of Apple's tablets to use the Opera web browser natively. The new Opera Touch version also comes with a new private mode that's available for all iOS devices, meaning iPhone and iPad, and Android ones.

"Some of you requested that we introduce Opera Touch to the iPad. Today, we are doing just that," said Maciej Kocemba, Product Manager, Opera Touch. "We are also introducing private mode in Opera Touch for iOS today. This now makes the mode available in both our iOS and Android browsers."

As expected, the private mode will allow users to browse the Web incognito, without fearing that their privacy is exposed. When enabled, the new private mode will create a separate session for browsing where things like history, cookies, and any other data will not be stored anywhere and wiped out completely.

How to enable private mode in Opera Touch

Both iOS and Android users will be able to quickly go incognito by enabling the private mode on their devices from the 3-dots menu in the top-right corner of the web browser. Please note that during private mode, search suggestions won't be available, and it won't keep you anonymous on the Web.

Leaving the private mode is as simple as tapping on the 3-dots menu and select either "Leave private mode," which will trigger Opera Touch to ask you if you want to save your private tabs for another session, or "Leave and close private tabs" to remove all browsing data from your device.

You can download Opera Touch for iOS and Android right now from the respective App Stores, and, if you want to test drive new versions of Opera Touch before anyone else, you'll have to join the beta program for iOS and Android over at Opera's forums.
