Tipster claims the OnePlus Nord SE wouldn’t launch after all

OnePlus has been quite busy lately, but the company originally wanted 2021 to be an even busier year, as it also wanted to bring to the world the highly anticipated OnePlus Nord SE.

But as it turns out, after the debut of the OnePlus 9 earlier this month, the company has made the decision to give up on the Nord SE for a reason that hasn’t been disclosed.

The information comes from tipster Max Jambor, the same one who previously said the device would launch either in late 2020 or in early 2021. But as it turns out, the Nord SE, which was supposed to be a special edition of the OnePlus Nord, wouldn’t happen after all.

In an update published this week, Jambor explains that this special edition will “not be presented to the public.”

OnePlus Nord SE is a no-go

However, if you want to see the glass half full, then it looks like the OnePlus Nord SE moniker could still be used at some point on a smartphone, though this is a decision that’s yet to be made.

“The only thing that is certain at this point is that the planned Special Edition of the original Nord will not be released,” the tipster says.

So there you go, the OnePlus Nord SE would no longer see the daylight this year, so if you were hoping for a special edition model of the original Nord, then you’d better not hold your breath for it.

In the meantime, there are other goodies that OnePlus is offering to customers, as the company has decided to expand beyond the smartphone market and also launch a smartwatch. The OnePlus Watch was announced alongside the new flagship earlier this month, and it comes with a compelling price tag and an interesting feature lineup that’s definitely worth trying out.
