Users recommended to update their drivers ASAP

Microsoft has recently acknowledged another issue hitting Windows 10 May 2019 Update, but luckily, users can actually resolve it quite easily.

Windows 10 May 2019 Update, or version 1903, is now rolling out to production devices across the world on Windows Update, which means that users can simply download it by checking for updates on their computers.

However, Microsoft says that some of the PCs that are updated to the May update may end up experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity loss due to what appears to be an old Qualcomm driver.

Microsoft doesn’t provide too many details on this driver, but it says that newer drivers should already be available for download, and this is why you are recommended to get it as soon as possible.

“Some older computers may experience loss of Wi-Fi connectivity due to an outdated Qualcomm driver. An updated Wi-Fi driver should be available from your device manufacturer (OEM),” the software giant explains. “Download and install an updated Wi-Fi driver from your device manufacturer (OEM).”

New drivers should already be available

The company goes on to explain that devices where the old and buggy Qualcomm driver is detected would no longer be offered the May 2019 Update because it wants to reduce the likelihood of users having to deal with the issue to the minimum.

“To safeguard your upgrade experience, we have applied a hold on devices with this Qualcomm driver from being offered Windows 10, version 1903, until the updated driver is installed,” Microsoft says.

While users always have the option to install the May update manually with the Media Creation Tool, Microsoft recommends against using this method unless the new drivers are deployed.

“We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update using the Update now button or the Media Creation Tool until a new driver has been installed and the Windows 10, version 1903 feature update has been automatically offered to you,” it says.

To download the new drivers, you must first determine the model number of your device and then check the website of the manufacturer.
