Fitbits are getting more and more Google technology, and the latest move in this direction is the addition of Google Wallet.

In an announcement today, Fitbit explains that with the help of Google wallet, owners of the Sense 2 and Versa 4 can use their cards for contactless payments with just a few touches on the screen.

Of course, only devices with NFC support contactless payments, but on the other hand, Google Wallet isn’t coming to all Fitbit devices. Only the latest-generation models are getting it, so if you have a Charge 5, the original Sense, or a Versa 3, you have no other option than to stick with Fitbit Pay for a little bit longer.

“Beginning to roll out today, Google Wallet will join Fitbit Pay as a new payment option for Sense 2 and Versa 4 users, allowing you even more opportunities to go about your day hands-free. With just a tilt of your wrist, you can make speedy, secure, and contactless purchases without needing to pull out or bring your wallet,” Fitbit explains.

Google Maps navigation coming to new-gen Fitbit devices

In addition, Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 are also being updated with support for Google Maps.

This means navigation directions will be available right on the smartwatch, and this comes in handy, particularly when walking around the town.

“To start Google Maps (coming soon to your Sense 2 or Versa 4), make sure Bluetooth is on and the Fitbit app is open on your phone. Then open Google Maps on your phone, enter your destination, and press start, turn-by-turn directions will automatically begin on your smartwatch. At the end of your navigation, you’ll see a summary of your stats that includes steps, Active Zone Minutes, heart rate, and more during your route,” Fitbit says.
