It’s all but confirmed now: Samsung is killing off the Galaxy Note series, with the company to now direct all its flagship efforts towards the Galaxy S and the foldable device lineups.

But while a Galaxy Note21 wouldn’t see the daylight this year, there’s a good chance the South Koreans come up with a Galaxy Note FE. That’s what leakster Ross Young claims, adding that a Note20 FE is indeed possible.

What is a FE model? FE stands for Fan Edition, and it’s essentially a cheaper version of a premium device that comes with almost the same top features as the original model.

What’s a FE smartphone?

Here’s Samsung’s description of the Galaxy S20 FE, which provides a closer look at what the FE tag actually represents:

“Samsung is committed to delivering flagship experiences to reach even more consumers and that is why we created the Galaxy S20 FE. The latest edition to the Galaxy line-up of devices, the Galaxy S20 FE is a premium flagship smartphone that includes innovations Galaxy fans told us they love most, made available at an accessible price point, starting at $699. Samsung took select features of the Galaxy S20 series, such as the super smooth scrolling display, an AI-powered camera, advanced chipset, hyper-fast connectivity, all day battery1, expandable storage2, with a streamlined premium design, in order to create the all-new Galaxy S20 FE.”

As for when the Galaxy Note20 FE is projected to go live, this is something that remains to be seen.

A few months ago, however, it was rumored the company could launch a new Galaxy Note in June, and it was believed this would be the new Galaxy Note21. If this is indeed accurate, there’s a chance the model in question is actually this FE, though for now, there’s obviously no confirmation in this regard.
