The sequel to Team Ninja's Nioh will have an open beta in about two months from now. Nioh 2 has been showcased at Tokyo Game Show over the weekend and publisher Koei Tecmo announced players will have the chance to try out the game before its release next year.

During the Nioh 2 Eternal World Stage event, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced they have scheduled an open beta for Nioh 2 from November 1 to November 10. The demo will be available as a free download via the PlayStation Store.

Apart from announcing the open beta dates, Team Ninja presented new Nioh 2 gameplay footage that shows more co-op combat and explained some of the mechanics. Newcomers to the series might be disappointed to learn that Nioh 2 will not feature an easy mode, but that's because the game isn't meant to be played in such a mode.

Game producer Fumihiko Yasuda said that whenever players feel like they hit a wall, they can summon other players to assist them, PlayStationLifeStyle reports:

The game is a so-called Masocore game, so we want the difficulty to be the same for everyone, even if you may be able to see people beat the bosses on YouTube and that sort of stuff. Yet we do have things to help out players, for example, the Benevolent Graves and three-player multiplayer, and we do think those will be a big helping hand for people to beat the game.

Nioh 2 will feature multiple types of multiplayer modes, but the difficulty will increase the more players get together in the same gameplay session.

The fast-paced souls-like Nioh 2 is set for release in early 2020 for PlayStation 4. The original game was launched on PC as well, so we're expecting the sequel to come to this platform later on.
