14 DAY TRIAL // Four years after the market launch of the Nintendo Switch, the Japanese company has finally added one of the most user-requested features: Bluetooth support. With the latest update, Nintendo Switch users will finally be able to seamlessly connect audio devices (i.e., speakers, headphones) to their consoles.
The update that adds Bluetooth support is available for all three models: Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED. As per Nintendo’s statement, software version 13.0 includes the following changes: “headphones, earbuds, speakers, and other audio devices that connect with Bluetooth can now be paired with Nintendo Switch family systems for audio output.”
However, Nintendo notes that only one Bluetooth audio device can be in use at any time, although “up to 10 devices can be saved on a Nintendo Switch system.” Another important thing worth mentioning is that mics can’t be paired with the Switch. Also, “up to two compatible wireless controllers can be connected to the system while using Bluetooth audio.”
Keep in mind that Bluetooth audio will be disconnected during local communication, such as when starting a local wireless multiplayer. Nintendo Switch players may experience audio latency depending on their Bluetooth device.
On a side note, Nintendo has decided to permanently cut Switch prices in Europe starting this month. The price cut will not be available in the United States though, nor in any other region except Europe, the Japanese company confirmed.
Customers in the UK will now be able to purchase the original Nintendo Switch for just £260, where the console was priced at £280 before the discount. Elsewhere, European customers will be able to pick up the Nintendo Switch for €300, down from €330.
Unfortunately, the price cut will not affect the Nintendo Switch Lite and the upcoming Nintendo Switch OLED, so they will continue to cost £200/€200 and £310/€310, respectively.
