The new firmware fixes the GPS-related battery drain

Today, Nikon has provided its 1 V3 camera owners with new firmware packages suitable for both Windows and Mac OS platforms, namely version 1.11, which resolves an issue regarding GPS power consumption.

Specifically speaking, this new update fixes the problem that caused an increased drain on the camera battery when the unit was off or in sleep mode with a GP-N100 GPS unit attached.

Therefore, if this bug has bothered you until now and want to get rid of it, save and run the appropriate package for your computer’s operating system, locate the “V3_0111.bin” file, and transfer it onto a formatted memory card (must be initialized using your 1 V3 camera).

Afterwards, insert the card into the appropriate slot, make sure the camera has a fully charged battery, turn on the imaging unit, go to Menu > Firmware Version > Update, select “OK,” and agree with all messages that will be displayed.

Once completed, make sure to remove and format the memory card, and check the currently installed firmware to make sure the 1.11 version has been applied correctly.

However, during the installation, make sure not to remove the battery/SD card, open the battery cover, or make use of any buttons. Doing so can interrupt the upgrade, and this might lead to various malfunctions.

With this in mind, download Nikon 1 V3 Camera Firmware 1.11, carefully apply it to your unit, and check back with us as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
