They could make their way to full Windows 10 too

Microsoft started refining the icons of its products almost a year ago, and the company has gradually released improved designs either for the Office productivity suite or Windows 10 and the built-in apps.

The work on a new full Windows 10 icon pack continues, only that for the time being appears to expand beyond the classic desktop environment.

A set of icons that got leaked today, for example, reveals the designs that three of Microsoft’s apps are going to use on Windows 10X, the company’s all-new operating system based on Windows 10 and supposed to power dual-screen and foldable devices.

The designs published by AL reveal the icons that Maps, Alarms, and People apps will use on Windows 10X, with a good chance for the very same idea to make its way to full Windows 10 too.

Coming to other platforms as well

Of course, given they are supposed to be part of Windows 10X, there’s a chance we’ll see these icons first on the Surface Neo next year. Surface Neo is Microsoft’s very own dual-screen device that is projected to go live in the holiday season of 2020.

In addition, Microsoft will also launch Surface Duo with Android next year, and some of these restyled icons could make their way to this device too.

As far as the full Windows 10 is concerned, one update that could bring significant changes in terms of design language and icons is 20H1. This update is due in the spring of 2020 and could come with rounded corners across the desktop interface, as well as with new icons for the built-in apps.

Needless to say, Microsoft itself hasn’t commented too much on these refined icons, despite the fact that we occasionally discover fresh designs that contribute to the system-wide makeover that the company is believed to be working on.
