Microsoft again suggests the Duo is just around the corner

Rumor has it that Microsoft is getting ready to release the Surface Duo dual-screen Android device any day now, and while the company remains tight-lipped on everything, more and more teasers are being posted on a regular basis.

After Panos Panay himself took to Instagram to showcase the new Surface, it’s the turn of Frank X. Shaw, Corporate Vice President, Corporate Communications at Microsoft Corporation, to “accidentally” reveal the Surface Duo in a couple of Twitter photos.

While the “official” purpose of the tweets was to highlight Shaw’s baking skills, the Surface Duo was the thing that caught everyone’s attention, and it happened for a good reason.

This is one of the most anticipated Microsoft product releases after the company officially announced it in the fall of the last year. Originally supposed to go live in the holiday season of 2020, the Surface Duo is believed to be ready for launch, and Microsoft could bring it to the market as soon as this month.

July unveiling

These new teasers show the Surface Duo being used with a Surface Pen, and by the looks of things, this is also a new stylus design in the first place. The Surface Pen teased here is slimmer, in some ways similar to the one that is available with the Surface Pro X.

One interesting feature spotted in these photos is a front-facing flash, which should technically improve the Surface Duo’s capabilities in the selfies department.

And of course, the pics highlight the device’s multitasking power, as it allows users to run two apps side by side on different screens.

There’s so much more that we’re yet to find out about the Surface Duo, including the pricing, but everything should be disclosed rather sooner than later, as Microsoft is believed to be planning a July unveiling that would happen before Samsung takes the wraps off the Galaxy Fold 2 on August 5.
