Microsoft has released a new update for the Surface app, with the new version available right now for Windows 10 and Windows 11 users.

The update brings the Surface companion app to version 61.6067.139.0, and according to the official changelog, it includes an updated purchase experience with support for the live chat, new color assets for all keyboards and mice, as well as Pen refinements.

Here’s the official changelog, as provided by Microsoft:

  • MS Complete purchase experience via Live support chat
  • Added support for color assets for all Keyboard & Mice
  • Changes to tail click button experience in Pen first run experience

The Surface app is in many ways a must-have solution, pretty much because it makes it a lot more convenient to discover all the benefits of a Surface computer.

It includes easy access to more configuration options, and thanks to the new look and feel, the experience overall feels a lot more modern and fresher.

“Get the most out of your Surface. The Surface app provides you with customization options and opportunity to learn more about your Surface device. Give feedback on your experience so we can keep making it better. Safety, warranty, and regulatory info is there whenever you need it,” Microsoft explains.

Not everybody’s cup of tea

Unfortunately, not everybody seems to be impressed with the Surface app, as the reviews published in the Microsoft Store highlight its limitations.

“The only way to see the battery life on my Surface Earbuds is to go to Settings, as this app will just hang on "refreshing". I can't change the view that or change my equalization type unless remove my Surface Earbuds and then add them again. Horrible experience and a step back from what was a more limited app,” one user explains in a review published on the Microsoft Store.
