Next Galaxy S model expected in early 2020

The first details about the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S model have reached the WWW, with a reliable leaker revealing what he calls “the four things can be confirmed.”

In other words, if his sources are accurate, the details here would almost certainly make their way to the Galaxy S11 due early next year.

First and foremost, @UniverseIce claims the Samsung Galaxy S11 model is codenamed Picasso. The Galaxy S10 (already on the market) used the Beyond moniker, as it follows: Beyond0 for the Galaxy S10e, Beyond1 for the Galaxy S10, and Beyond2 for the Galaxy S10+.

It’s not yet clear if the numbering system is used for Picasso as well, but this isn’t the first time this codenamed makes the headlines, so there’s a good chance Samsung indeed uses it for the upcoming S11.

The leaker also claims the Galaxy S11 will come with “a substantial camera upgrade,” albeit no specifics are available here. Most likely, the S11 will use a configuration similar to the one on the upcoming Note10, which sports a four-camera setup on the top-of-the-range version, with a ToF sensor included.

Android Q

Then, the next-generation Galaxy S model will also come with changes in terms of the camera cutout. While the Galaxy S10 pioneered this approach, the S11 will further refine it and feature a hole in display that is smaller than the one on the Note 10. Samsung’s next phablet launching in early August will feature a camera cutout placed in the center of the screen, and not in the top right corner as it’s the case on the S10.

And last but not least, the S11 will be powered by Samsung’s One UI 2.x, which will be based on Android Q. Google will launch the next version of Android this summer, so by the time the S11 launches, the company should be ready to bring it to its flagships too.

Samsung Galaxy S11 is expected in early 2020, with the unveiling likely to take place in February.
