Microsoft has released a new Dev build for Microsoft Edge browser, and this time the update is rather small with only a couple of new features.

More specifically, Microsoft Edge Dev build 87.0.654.0 introduces extended formatted link copying capabilities to link copied from webpages.

And in addition, it also expands the available for share, copy, and paste settings to more users.

Other than that, everything is all about fixes and improvements under the hood, but the good news is that the update also resolves a series of crashes experienced during the startup when the syncing process runs, when printing, or where closing the browser while the Guided Switch dialog is open.

The known issues

There are also several known issues, and one of them concerns the ad blocking extension problem that could block the playback of YouTube videos.

This is an error that was actually acknowledged in mid-2020, and Microsoft still recommends users to just temporarily disable the ad blocking until a fix lands. But given several months have passed already, it’s pretty clear this isn’t the most convenient workaround, and you’d better not hold your breath for a fix anyway.

“Our Media team has received a number of reports regarding a potential bug, so we wanted to loop you in on our findings. We’ve heard that a number of users who have the AdBlock (Plus) or Adblock for Youtube extensions installed are running into errors on YouTube videos. If you’re experiencing this bug, you will likely encounter a black screen on the video player when attempting to load a video on YouTube. We’ve found that this behavior is happening on all operating systems and all Microsoft Edge channels,” Microsoft says.

The new Dev build is available on both Windows (Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10) and Mac systems.
