The official unveiling, however, will happen in September

The closer we get to the expected launch date of the new iPhone generation, the more information makes the headlines, and this time what we have is the possible month when all devices could go on sale.

Here’s what we know so far.

Apple will take the wraps off four different iPhones with screens between 5.4 inches and 6.7 inches. All will feature 5G support thanks to a modem developed by Qualcomm.

The global health issue has obviously impacted the planning phase of the iPhone 12, and people familiar with the matter have previously suggested that at least one model could be pushed back.

In other words, one or more iPhones could hit the shelves later than usual, possibly in October or November. And information published by Apple leaker Jon Prosser indicates that this is indeed the case.

Unveiling in September, going on sale in October

In a tweet this week, Prosser says the new iPhones would become available for purchase in October.

The launch, however, will still happen in September, so Apple will still hold its typical unveiling of new-generation iPhones during this month. So while the iPhone 12 will make its public debut in September, the month when they are supposed to go on sale is October.

This is a schedule that Qualcomm itself suggested could happen, as the company revealed recently that a large partner has decided to push back its flagship device equipped with a 5G modem. While Qualcomm never said it was Apple the company was talking about, it’s pretty clear that the iPhone 12 is the model that’s getting a delay.

The good news is that Qualcomm itself says this isn’t a huge delay, so the new iPhones are indeed expected to go live in Apple Stores and authorized partners a month after the unveiling.

Prosser says that new iPads are also coming in October but no specifics were shared.
