And this could be unveiled at Apple’s spring event

Apple hasn’t said a single thing about it, but as it turns out, the company is planning a new event this month, and this time, the focus would be on a series of iPad upgrades.

In other words, no, there won’t be a new iPhone SE going live this spring, but several iPad improvements, and according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a new iPad Pro is likely to go live.

This one will feature a mini-LED display, and Kuo adds that the production would start in mid to late April. In other words, there’s a chance the device is announced at Apple’s event and then it’ll go on sale in the next few weeks.

“We expect EMS to start mass production of mini LED iPads beginning mid to late April. The supply bottleneck, TSMT's yield rate, will increase significantly in 2Q21, and overall supply chain shipment momentum will also increase significantly in 2H21,” Kuo said in an investor note obtained by MacRumors.

“We have predicted in several previous reports that the mini LED iPad will be mass-produced in 1H21. Although this mass production date is slower than the market’s overly-optimistic expectation of February or March, it will provide a good entry point if the related supply chain stock price corrects.”

Still a rumor for now

According to previously-leaked information, the new iPad Pro will come with a Thunderbolt port and upgraded cameras. The mini-LED upgrade, however, could only take place on the 12.9-inch model, as there’s a chance no screen refresh happens on the 11-inch tablet.

Of course, nothing has been confirmed so far, so a certain dose of skepticism is definitely recommended, especially as not even the April event has been announced. More information, however, should surface as we get closer to the upcoming Apple spring event.
