Publisher Bethesda and developer Tango Gameworks have just released a new Ghostwire: Tokyo that offers a glimpse at the abilities the protagonist will use to battle supernatural threats that are trying to take over Tokyo.

The folks at Tango Gameworks present a vision of an ultra-modern Tokyo that’s now attacked in full force by supernatural creatures and urban legends brought to life by an unknown entity. They are called Visitors and haunt the street of Tokyo in search of easy prey.

In Ghostwire: Tokyo, players will learn to employ a plethora of abilities, including one known as Ethereal Weaving, an art of fusing spiritual energy with fire, water and wind to perform powerful elemental attacks.

During their journey, players will discover new characters and creatures that will become allies. Of course, most of the time they’ll encounter hostile Visitors, which apparently will have unique attack patterns, weaknesses and methods for anticipating them.

This will sound very weird, but agile spirits in the form of headless high school students use speed and acrobatics to catch you off-guard. On the other hand, dolls based off traditional teru teru bozu weather charms fly through the air. Finally, we have faceless ghosts that roam through rainy environments in funeral attire, which can deflect attacks with their umbrella.

Obviously, you’ll have to discover the rest of the Visitors’ abilities and weaknesses while learning the secrets behind Tokyo’s mass disappearance. The trailer released today is more than enough to be able to judge for yourself whether or not you’ll enjoy Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Although Bethesda didn’t announce when exactly the game will be released, the published confirmed Ghostwire: Tokyo will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2022. Since it will be coming to PC, we can’t help but wonder whether or not it will be available for free on Xbox Game Pass.
