AsusWrt-Merlin has rolled out a newer version of its custom firmware packages, namely build 380.69.2, which fixes RT-AC87U’s quantenna watchdog problems that displayed QTN CPU as crashed and lead to router reboots.

In addition to that, the present update also resolves Internet Explorer 11 field validation issues seen on OpenVPN and DHCP pages, removes CVE-2018-5999 and CVE-2018-5721 vulnerabilities in httpd, and fixes a few OpenVPN-related problems.

When it comes to supported devices, this release is suitable for ASUS’ RT-N66 (U, R, W), RT-AC88U, RT-AC87 (R, U), RT-AC68 (P, R,W ,U, UF), RT-AC66 (W, U, R), RT-AC56 (R, U, S), RT-AC5300, RT-AC3200, RT-AC3100, RT-AC1900, and RT-AC1900P wireless routers.

In terms of installation, just save and unzip the appropriate archive for your model, establish a wired connection between the router and your computer, and go to Advanced Settings > Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Now, click on the “Choose File” button near the “New Firmware File” section, select the newly extracted .trx file, hit “Upload,” and wait for your router to do its job. Bear in mind that interrupting this process can result in severe device malfunctions.
