Neverwinter: Sharandar – Episode 1: The Iron Tooth’s, the next expansion for the officially-licensed Dungeons & Dragons free-to-play MMORPG, should have been released on PC today, but developer Cryptic Studios revealed that the new content has been delayed by a week.

The PC release date for Neverwinter: Sharandar – Episode 1: The Iron Tooth’s is now February 16, as developers need extra time to address crash issues and further optimize the expansion. In a statement published on the game's website, Cryptic Studios mentions that the recent graphic changes to Neverwinter's engine have also impacted console performance.

Throughout the last several weeks we have been committed to addressing feedback to the combat rework and we continue to remain focused on this topic. In addition, recent graphic changes to our game engine have impacted console performance for Neverwinter. We will be using this extra week to ensure stability across all our platforms, including the dungeon/trial crashes.”

In Neverwinter: Sharandar, players return to Sharandar to investigate the unexplained closure of the Fey Crossing and the slain elves found in Old Sharandar. The upcoming module features a completely re-imagined adventure zone, new campaign, story, and social hub.

The new Sharandar module consists of 3 episodes: The Iron Tooth, The Soul Keeper and The Odious Court. Episode 1 will send heroes to the Ruins of Malabog and the new Vault of Stars dungeon, while the other two episodes will continue the story at later dates.

Those who play Neverwinter on consoles will be able to jump into Episode 1: The Iron Tooth’s on March 9, if Cryptic Studios doesn't decide to push back the release date as it did with the PC version.

If you're a fan of the MMORPG, you'll have to wait one more week for the first episode of the Sharandar module, which isn't so bad considering that developers will use the time to ensure stability and fix any major issues.
