The update fixes issue with router not getting an IP address

NETGEAR has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its R7500v2 Nighthawk X4 Smart Router, namely version 1.0.3.10, which manages to remove the bug that prevented the device from receiving an IP address when the DHCP server changes.

In addition to that, this release allows ReadyCLOUD to download files that include “[“ or “]” characters, makes sure that more than 10 keyword entries can be added in the Block Sites page, and fixes PPTP setup failures that prompt an “Incorrect ISP username and password” message.

Moreover, firmware 1.0.3.10 also resolves certain PPPOE or PPPOA disconnection issues, fixes several IPv6-related problems, and implements a few other changes as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

If you want to enjoy these improvements, first write down all the settings changed from the default values, save and extract the downloadable archive onto an accessible location, and establish a wired connection between your router and the computer storing the firmware file.

Now, log into the R7500v2’s web user interface, go to ADVANCED tab > Administration > Firmware Upgrade, browse and select the newly-extracted .trx file, hit “Upload,” and wait patiently as the router does the rest.

Even though this seems easy, bear in mind that disconnecting the Ethernet/Power cable, powering off either device or making use of the router’s buttons during the installation can lead to serious malfunctions.

That said, download NETGEAR R7500v2 Router Firmware 1.0.3.10, carefully apply it to your unit, and check back with us as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available for this device.
