This new firmware resolves memory leak and security issues

NETGEAR has released a new firmware package targeted at its R6900P Nighthawk AC1900 Router, namely version 1.0.0.58, which manages to resolve some security bugs, memory leak issues, and certain Smart Connect, GUI, and languages-related problems.

In addition to that, the current update makes sure DUT can obtain an IPv6 address from the PPPoE server, corrects the WPS LED blinking when an invalid WPS PIN is entered more than three times, and fixes connection type display on the access control page.

When it comes to installation, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and make sure to write down all settings changed from the default values, as you might need to re-enter them after applying the new firmware.

If all is OK, establish a wired connection between the R6900P unit and the computer storing the .chk firmware file, log into its administration page using a web browser, and go to ADVANCED > Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Now, hit “Browse,” navigate and select the newly-extracted .chk package, choose “Upload,” and wait patiently for the device to do its job. Do not remove the Ethernet/power cable or interrupt this process in any other way, as this might cause serious malfunctions.

That said, download NETGEAR R6900P Router Firmware 1.0.0.58, take into account all aspects mentioned above, and check our website as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
