The Mozilla Firefox 61 web browser is now available to download ahead of tomorrow's official announcement for all supported operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Mac.

Mozilla Firefox 61 is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2018, but if you can't wait until then to update your installations, you can go ahead and download the official builds for Windows, Linux, or Mac platforms from Mozilla's download servers.

Promising to be performance and stability update, Firefox 61 introduces faster switching of tabs on both Windows and Linux platforms, better page rendering times with Quantum CSS improvements, and faster page rendering speed with new retained display list feature.

Moreover, WebExtensions can now run in their own process on Apple's macOS, the latest draft of the Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 specification is enabled by default, the dark theme was made more consistent across the whole UI, and it's now possible to share the current URL from the Page Actions menu on macOS.

Firefox 61 blocks access to FTP subresources to improve security

Another interesting change implemented in Firefox 61 is the blocking of access to FTP subresources in HTTP and HTTPS sites to improve user security. Also, Mozilla Firefox 61 updates WebExtensions support to allow managing and hiding of tabs.

Other than that, this release makes installation of OpenSearch plugins offered by websites easier via the Page Actions menu, moves the settings for customizing users' homepages to a new Preferences section called Home, and adds a new drop-down menu to the Developer Tools Network panel for allowing bandwidth throttling.

Again, Mozilla plans to unveil Firefox 61 sometime tomorrow, June 26, 2018, but you can download the binaries and sources for installation on GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and macOS operating systems right now through our web portal if you want to use the new release.
