Lenovo has recently confirmed the Motorola Razr 3, therefore indicating that the focus on foldable devices remains as strong as always.

In a post on Weibo, Lenovo executive Chen Jin revealed that a new Motorola Razr is already on the way, and customers in China will be the first to receive it.

“We are quietly preparing the third-generation Razr folding screen mobile phone,” he said in a post spotted by Android Authority.

While no specifics were provided, the Lenovo executive indicated the device would sport increasing computing power (obviously thanks to a new processor), an improved UI, and a much more refined design. Needless to say, the foldable form factor will be retained, though the Razr 3 is expected to include additional polishing to make it a better rival for Samsung’s lineup of foldable devices.

No information was shared as to when the Razr 3 could see the daylight, but there’s a chance the whole thing could happen at some point next year. China will get the new Motorola foldable phone first, with the international launch to then take place by the end of the year.

The foldable push

It’s pretty clear already that the foldable revolution is happening, and Motorola was one of the pioneers of this form factor. Companies like Samsung, however, are making it more mainstream, while Motorola, Microsoft, and a few others come up with improved designs that help evolve the concept as a whole.

Microsoft, for example, is believed to be working on a triple-screen device that would allow owners to use the device in even more modes depending on the orientation of each display.

For the time being, however, the transition to foldable phones is still in its early days, and the upcoming Razr 3 is very likely to become a hit, not only in China but in international markets too.
