The premise of Monster Train, the roguelike deck-building deck game developed by Shiny Shoe, reminds me of Snowpiercer, the movie starring Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, and Tilda Swinton. Monster Train is set on a train to frozen Hell and your job is to protect the last Pyre from the forces of Heaven and make Hell burn once again.

The game is expected to release in Q2 2020 on PC via Steam, but those who wish to check out the game early can sign up for a spot in the Monster Train PC closed beta happening in February.

Just like every other card game, you'll have a wide array of options that will allow you to customize your tactics, online multiplayer, and bucketload of unique gameplay possibilities. On top of that, Monster Train adds an extra strategic element to roguelike deck-builders with three vertical playfields that must be defended at a time.

The folks at Shiny Shoe revealed that Monster Train will feature more than 200 cards at launch, which will allow players to build powerful decks of spells and minions, and position their champions on each level to protect the train from invaders.

The goal of the game is to keep the Pyre, the only magical artifact that can turn Hell to its original state, intact. Monster Train features five clans that can be combined and fight for, as well as challenging enemies to balance your deck against, along with multiple routes to take through Hell, which means no playthrough will ever be the same.

Not to mention that the game promises a unique time-based online multiplayer mode called Hell Rush, which lets up to 8 players compete against one another in time-based challenges for an exhilarating experience under intense pressure. Also, you'll be able to create your own custom challenges and share them with the world to see who can top the custom challenge leaderboards.
