Microsoft has been teasing the next major update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition for a few weeks now and even confirmed some of the new gameplay features to be implemented.

Developed by Mojang, the update should have arrived around the same time Minecraft for Windows 10 gets released. Microsoft wanted to make Minecraft for Windows 10 available in July 29, the same day the new operating system gets launched.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition players would receive a major update on their Android and iOS devices around the same date, but not anymore.

While Minecraft for Windows 10 will still arrive on July 29, Pocket Edition version won't be updated on the same date.

According to Mojang's Tommaso Checchi, the company wanted to release the new version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition on July 29 but decided against it because the game is not yet ready.

Version 0.12 could arrive in more than a month from today

If developers went ahead with the launch on July 29, then the game would lack Enchanting, Music and Controller support, which are some of the new features Mojang promised to implement with the new update.

So, instead of releasing the game without these features, Mojang has decided to delay the new version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Android and iOS until August.

According to Mojang's official, the studio usually sets an internal date for the release of major updates, but they usually miss these dates by one month.

This is one of the reasons the company does not announce release dates for Minecraft: Pocket Edition major update. This time however, it looks like they have confirmed the update will be delayed for August.

The next update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition should update the game to version 0.12, unless Mojang surprises us and releases the final version next month.
