The new October 2018 Update comes with a feature that allows users to sync their Windows 10 PCs and Android devices, getting easier access to content like photos and messages.

The feature is powered by an application called Your Phone, which must be installed on both Android and Windows 10 to provide access to photos and message right from the desktop.

Needless to say, Microsoft launching the app with much fanfare has generated huge excitement over it, so Your Phone Companion has become a trending app on the Google Play Store.

Vishnu Nath, Head of Program Management, Microsoft Mobility, was the one to announce the achievement on Twitter.

“The #YourPhone companion app is now the #1 trending app in the Google Play app store! So exciting to see the enthusiasm for cross device experiences. Thank you to our fans!” he posted.

More than 5 million downloads

According to official stats, Your Phone already has more than 5 million downloads from the Google Play store alone, but the overall count could be much higher given that Android users can also install it using the stand-alone APK file.

Your Phone will evolve substantially in the coming months, and one of the improvements that Microsoft is already working on is bringing support for any Android app. Technically, with a feature called app mirroring, Windows 10 users would be able to run Android apps on their PCs through Your Phone, all without even touching their phones.

While Microsoft hasn’t announced an ETA for this feature, a demo was presented at the Surface event on October 2, so it’s likely that this functionality is already under development.

In the meantime, you can try out Your Phone with access to photos and messages by downloading the APK here. The app also must be installed on Windows 10, and you need to log in with the same Microsoft account on both devices.
