The Redmond-based software giant is already seeing the end of the health crisis, as the company has announced that next month, it’s going to open its Washington state work sites after such a long time of relying exclusively on hybrid working.

The change will take place on February 28, Microsoft says, with employees to then be provided with another 30 days to decide on their working settings based on agreements made with managers.

“Reaching this stage allows us to fully open our facilities to employees, visitors and guests. All campus services will return, including the Connector ride-share option for employees in the Puget Sound area. Additionally, we’re pleased to be joining other area businesses welcoming back more employees in the coming weeks,” the company explains.

More U.S. locations to follow suit rather sooner than later

Chris Capossela, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, explains the reason for opening the Washington state offices comes down to a mix of high vaccination rates and the declining hospitalizations and deaths and the state.

In addition, the company claims that all Bay Area sites in California, including the Silicon Valley Campus, will also open in full on February 28, and the company claims there is a chance all its other locations in the United States will follow in their footsteps based on the how the health problem is being resolved.

“While the world has changed, our dedication to the safety and well-being of our employees has remained constant. As we navigate this new phase of work, we’ll continue to take a data-driven approach to decision making that follows the guidance of public health authorities. We’re maintaining a close watch on local health data in every area where Microsoft has a physical presence, and we’ll adjust our course if necessary. We’ve learned a lot about working remotely in the last two years and we’re fortunate to have the tools to continue doing so if needed,” Capossela explained.
