Microsoft has just rolled out a new update for OneNote on Windows 10 for both insiders and non-insiders running the company’s latest operating system.

First and foremost, systems running production builds of Windows 10 are getting an update to OneNote version 16.0.10325.20049, which includes the said transparent version of the live tile. This means that the tile should be looking much better in the Windows 10 Start menu, as previously the app was using a solid color background.

Additionally, this version introduces a new option to pin a New Page to the Start menu so it can be accessed much quicker. An Online Video button has been added to the ribbon in the Insert tab in order to make it faster to embed videos in your notes.

And last but not least, Microsoft has updated paste options to let users decide if they want to keep source formatting, merge formatting, or keep the text.

Windows Insider improvements

For users running preview builds of Windows 10, Microsoft is rolling out an update as well, though this time there are several other improvements in addition to the ones mentioned above.

One new feature is Microsoft Translator integration in the View tab, so notes can be translated on the go without any other action required. The symbol gallery has been added to the ribbon and what’s more, there are two new eraser sizes available from the Draw UI.

Microsoft has also added the simplified ribbon that the company plans to bring to its entire Office productivity suite, as well as new table options to hide borders or select a range of cells.

OneNote for Windows 10 will become the default app in Microsoft Office 2019, replacing the desktop version of OneNote. On the other hand, OneNote for desktop will continue to be available, but from this point on, the Windows 10 version will become Microsoft’s main offering.
