September 2019 Patch Tuesday just around the corner

Microsoft will release a new batch of cumulative updates for Windows 10 devices tomorrow as part of the September 2019 Patch Tuesday.

As it happens every month, Patch Tuesday is specifically focused on resolving security vulnerabilities in Microsoft products, and these include not only Windows, but also the Office productivity suite, .NET Framework, and others.

On the other hand, the highlight on Windows 10 will be the rollout of cumulative updates, as they have previously caused various issues, including failed installs and broken Windows features.

Since they will land on a Patch Tuesday, the September 10 Windows 10 cumulative updates will be primarily supposed to address security problems, but other refinements will also be included.

The changelogs will be published for all Windows 10 versions getting cumulative updates tomorrow when the rollout kicks off.

Bugs to fix

Microsoft has a bunch of issues to fix with this set of cumulative updates, including a bug hitting the most recent update for Windows 10 version 1903. Cumulative update KB4512941, which was published on August 30 as optional for version 1903 devices, caused high CPU usage and broke down Windows search, according to information published by Microsoft.

“Microsoft is getting reports that a small number of users may not receive results when using Windows Desktop Search and may see high CPU usage from SearchUI.exe when searching after installing KB4512941. This issue is only encountered on devices in which searching the web from Windows Desktop Search has been disabled,” the company said.

Microsoft promised a fix in mid-September, so it’s expected that this bug would finally be resolved as part of tomorrow’s Patch Tuesday.

We’ll keep an eye on this cumulative update and post more information when the rollout kicks off, along with all the changelogs to let you know what’s being fixed.
