Microsoft will take the wraps off Surface upgrades and possibly new models during a dedicated hardware event on October 2, and because the excitement around this moment keeps growing the closer we get to it, the company itself wanted to be part of the fun with its own teaser.

In a tweet posted recently, the official Microsoft Surface account previews “new and innovative things” prepared for the October 2 event, obviously without sharing any specifics.

The tweet also includes a video showing Panos Panay, the chief product officer of Microsoft’s Devices group, praising various Surface models at past events, clearly in an attempt to emphasize that what we’re going to see this week is at least as huge as the previous unveilings.

“We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: New and innovative things are coming at the #MicrosoftEvent. Tune in Oct. 2 live on Twitter at 10am ET to see why we’re #pumped,” the tweet reads.

What to expect at the show

While Microsoft hasn’t said a single thing about the announcements to be made on October 2, we expect the company to unveil substantial Surface Pro and Surface Laptop upgrades.

The next-generation Surface Pro, most likely called Surface Pro 7, could come in two different versions, one featuring the existing design and hardware upgrades, and the other one sporting a more dramatic overhaul and including smaller bezels and other key improvements.

The third-generation Surface Laptop is expected to include a 15-inch model, possibly powered by AMD chip.

The most anticipated moment, however, is the debut of a dual-screen foldable Surface model that would pioneer a new-generation product supporting multiple form factors. This Surface device, however, might only go on sale next year, so the October 2 unveiling might be more of a short demo providing us with a quick glimpse into what’s to come.
